+===== 1 Getting Started =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +The sign in screen is where you can sign into your Storage Made Easy Account. You need a valid account with StorageMadeEasy.com to do this. There are many free accounts so all you need to do is sign up.  \\ \\ You can do this from the website StorageMadeEasy.com which will probably be a quicker experience. If you wish to do this from the website you can find out more about this process from the Getting Started Guide.\\ \\ Other Options from the menu on the login screen are:\\ \\ **Offline:** If you do not currently have an internet connection you can still access your local files. downloaded files, and notes without logging in\\ **Manual:** This takes you to the Storage Made Easy Wiki site to the manual\\ **Server:** This is the API endpoint and should not be changed unless asked to by Storage Made Easy\\ **Activate:** This is where you enter the activation code given in the email when you first register (only needed if you **did not** click the link in the email and **not needed** if you already registered with Storage Made Easy, in that event just login.)\\ \\ Note that European Server users need to check the EU checkbox. International users leave this blank. The Servers are totally independent.\\ \\
 +
 +
 +===== 2 Registration =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +From version 1.6 you can now register in App' or you can just choose to register from the website and then enter your login details in the App.\\ \\ If you wish to do this from the website you can find out more about this process from the Getting Started Guide.\\ \\
 +
 +
 +===== 3 Registration: in App =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +Once you have entered the registration details you are taken to a screen where you can select the package you are interested in using. The default is the free package which includes 5GB free storage from us and the ability to add 3 other clouds. You can use the drop down to the right of the cloud name to view all other packages available.\\ \\ Once you have completed selecting your cloud you will receive an Activation email to activate your account.
 +
 +
 +===== 4 Activation email =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +Once you have registered you will receive an activation email. If you registered with the email address that you have access to from your phone then this can be accessed direct from your phone. Once it arrives you can just click on the link to authorise the email address and the account. This will launch the web browser and you will receive a message to let you know activation is complete.\\ \\ Alternatively you can cut the unique code and paste it into the activation code direct from the App (accessed from the activation menu option on the login screen)..\\ \\ You do not need to activate if you already registered for Storage Made Easy - just login.
 +
 +
 +===== 5 First login =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +On your first login after registration the App may detect that you have no clouds setup and will ask if you wish to create one. You should click "OK " to this.
 +
 +
 +===== 6 Adding your first cloud =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +You can Add your first Cloud by choosing   **//Cloud Providers//** from the Menu   and choosing "**//Add Provider//**" from options. You will then be taken to a wizard where you can choose the Cloud you wish to add.
 +
 +
 +===== 7 First time refresh of file view =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +At the end of the wizard, what we call a "**//Cloud Sync//**" task will be started to refresh the view of your files through the Android client. You can wait for this to complete or exit the App and login later. The process occurs on the server side so the App does not need to be running. When you log back in you can check the status of this from the 'Cloud Tasks' menu option.
 +
 +
 +===== 8 Security: Login / Data Transfer =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +If you are concerned about security of any information you wish to transfer you can choose to turn SSL on from the main menu. This can slightly slow down performance and upload / download speeds but provides encrypted data traffic using https.\\ \\ Note however that some versions of Android have a known bug that prevents SSL from being used and could result in an error on certain Android operating systems.\\ \\ For further information on security, see our FAQ
 +
 +
 +===== 9 Security: Pin Lock =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +The PIN Lock can be turned on from the Main Menu. It enables you to secure the App and will prompt you for a PIN on startup or if the App is backgrounded and then brought back to the Main view.

 +
 +Once you click on the HTTP Sharing button from the menu in the prior step you will be taken to a screen where you can start the http / web server. Clicking Start Server will give you an address that you can visit to upload files.\\ \\ The HTTP Sharing service, when running, will appear in the Android notifications taskbar. When it is stopped this is removed.\\ \\ Files can be added to any directory  \\ \\ %%**%%Note that you must be on the same WiFi network as the machine that tries to use the web address from a browser\\ %%**%% Note that on clicking Start Server for the first time, you may need to click it again as the first click completes an initialisation.\\ %%**%%Note that you should turn this off from a security perspective when you are not using it

 +
 +===== 13 Simplified Menu =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +Find the App too complicated ?   The simplified menu option removes the advanced options and keeps the basics available. You can easily change between views just by choosing this option from the menu.
 +
 +
 +===== 14 Cloud Files Menu Options =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +When you click on 'My Cloud Files' from the Main Menu, you are taken to the File Browser Screen. Here you can see all your Cloud Files and folders from a single cloud or many clouds depending on which clouds you have mapped to your account.   \\ \\ When you added Cloud Storage Providers to your Account the storage provider is added as a directory within something we refer to as a **//virtual cloud file system.//** This cloud file system lets you see your files from several different clouds as if they all existed in one directory - pretty neat I think you will agree.\\ \\ Oh, and your files don't move anywhere ! They are still on your original cloud storage. We don't cache the files or copy them to our servers. We just cache the information about your files to enable us to create the virtual cloud file system view.\\ \\ If a key is shown against a file in the file browser, this means it is password protected and you will need to enter the password that you created when you uploaded the file before you can access it on Your Android Device\\ \\ When you are within the root or any other folder you will see the following options"\\ \\ **//New Folder//**: Create a new folder in the current directory\\ \\ **//Upload Picture//**: Upload a Picture in the current directory\\ \\ **//Upload File//**: Upload any file in the current directory\\ \\ Note that if you navigate in to a Cloud Folder ie "My Google Docs" or "My SKyDrive etc" then your files will be uploaded to this Storage provider just by navigating into the directory structure. You don't need to do anything else. In this way it is easy to upload files to different cloud storage providers simply by changing directory.\\
 +
 +
 +===== 15 Navigating directories =====
 +
 +
 +
 +

If you have, you can create a message and share your file directly on Twitter.\\ \\ **Share:** Choose to use any of the default phone sharing options\\ \\ **Rename:** Enables you to rename the file\\ \\ **Delete:** This deletes a file form your Storage Made Easy Cloud Files view and moves it to Trash. It does not remove it from the underlying cloud unless you visit the website at StorageMadeEasy.com and choose to remove Trash. You can also set this up as Cloud Tasks options that you can start from the phone.\\ \\ **New Folder:** Creates a new folder in the given directory\\ \\ **Add this dir to sync:** This adds the current directory to Sync.  +
 +
 +
 +
 +Cloud tasks represent tasks that you have either setup or that have completed on Storage Made Easy. These invariably represent one of three things:\\ \\ 1. Sync'ing Storage Made Easy meta-information with your Cloud(s)\\ 2. Backing up email\\ 3. Emptying Trash\\ \\ From here you can check the status if they are scheduled, or you can choose to rerun tasks that have occurred previously but are completed. For example if you have previously sync'd your Amazon S3 File information with Storage Made Easy but want to redo the sync as you have entered files using another Amazon client you could do it from here. The same goes for any task.\\ \\ Note that you can rename the sync title   that you see from   the 'Cloud Sync Tasks' menu option which can access from the sidebar when logged into StorageMadeEasy.com
 +
 +

 +
 +
 +
 +
 +The Storage Made Easy Android Sync enables you to sync from a local directory to your cloud or from a cloud directory to your phone.\\ \\ To add a directory from your phone to be kept in sync within the root directory of your default cloud storage provider (if you have more than one cloud in your account, you can see which is root from the Cloud Providers screen, it will have a star against it)\\ \\ 1. Click My Syncs\\ 2. Click Add Folder (picture 1 above) - this will take you into Android Directory Structure (see picture 2)\\ 3. Click on the directory you wish to sync from My Syncs\\ 3. Click Sync now\\ 4. Repeat for each directory you added, whether it is added from the phone or the cloud.\\ \\ Each Time you wish to refresh your Cloud Files view, all you need to do is to go to 'My Syncs', select any directory you wish to refresh and choose to sync from the menu. Any updated or new files will be sync'd up to your Cloud of choice or down to the phone. You can also see the date and time of the last sync on the folder from within the 'My Syncs' view.\\ \\ If you wish to have all your sync folders update on login, you can choose the 'Sync All on Startup" from the "My Syncs" menu. This will initiate a background sync when you login. If you look in the top right hand of your screen after activating this option and logging in you will see a refresh icon to show you the sync is in progress. You can also go back to the My Syncs view at any time a background sync is running and check the last sync time on folders to check on progress.
 +
 +
 +===== 29 Enabling Scheduled Sync =====

The choices are:\\ \\ - **//Never//** (choose this when you wish to cancel the existing sync)\\ - **//On Application Start//** (each time the Application starts up)\\ - **//Every two hours//**\\ - **//Twice a day//**\\ - **//Once a day//**\\ \\ Once the sync is enabled you will see a notification in the Android taskbar letting you know when the next sync will occur.\\ \\ %%**%%Note - Auto Sync could provide to be expensive if you have a paid data plan so be sure to control it when you are using your cellular network.\\
 +
 +
 +===== 30 Local file Manager =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +There is a local file browser that you can use to go back to files that you have viewed and downloaded from the cloud that are stored in a local directory on the phone. If you choose to delete a file you can also choose to delete the file on the cloud.\\ \\ You can also navigate your directory structure and copy files to this folder if you wish. These files reside in the SD card directory within a directory called "Storage Made Easy".
 +
 +
 +===== 31 Cloud Notes Menu =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +You can create notes directly in Android Storage Made Easy. There is no formatting, these are simply text files. The advantage of creating them in Storage Made Easy is that can be sync'd back to your underlying cloud, such as SkyDrive or Google Docs for example.\\ \\ You can also assign categories to notes which become folders on your actual storage cloud.\\ \\ To sync notes up/down you just need to click the sync button available from the menu options.\\ \\ If you have a multi-cloud account and change your primary provider then then memos could end up being stored on different clouds. You may want this, but then again you may not, so be aware of this. From the sync viewpoint it does not matter as all memos will still be sync'd back to the phone.
 +
 +
 +===== 32 Cloud Notes Options =====
 +
 +
 +
 +

If you choose the email the note will be attached.\\ \\ **//New Note//**: Start a new note
 +
 +
 +===== 33 Cloud Providers Menu =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +The Cloud Providers screen lets you change your primary storage provider. If you have a single cloud account you will only seen one option here but if you have an account that has more than provider you will see a choice. You can choose to set a different provider to be the Primary provider from the menu choices available when highlighting a provider and hitting the 'menu' button on your device. The primary Cloud is only applicable when working with 'Smart folders'\\ \\ Changing the primary provider will result in the location for the Photos and Memos smart folders being changed to whatever you set.  \\ \\ If you already had it stored some notes and photos then after changing the primary cloud any new photos or memos that are stored will be stored on the cloud you just set.\\ \\ \\ \\ \\
 +
 +
 +===== 34 Refresh Cloud files view =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +Storage Made Easy provides an abstraction above many clouds. It works by initially creating a meta cache of file information. To understand cache / view options please see this wiki entry.\\ \\ If you are using cache rather than realtime (which is the most optimum for speed) then you may want to refresh your view. To do this just click on the cloud you want to refresh and click "Sync now" . It will update the view of your files. If you are using realtime then you don't need to do this.
 +
 +
 +===== 35 Searching for files =====
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +
 +You can search for your files easily by clicking the search option on the Main Menu. If you have more than one cloud mapped to Storage Made Easy then the search will be done on the criteria you select against all clouds. For example if you have SkyDrive, Amazon S3, and Google Docs mapped to your Cloud and you search for '.doc files' then the search will be done against all Cloud Providers and the results returned.
 +
 +
