Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Nasuni shutting down this service?
Nasuni focuses solely on enterprise customers and is therefore providing notice that it is closing the Storage Made Easy (SME) hosted service targeted at individuals and small organizations.
What will happen to my files?
Many customers of the NAA SaaS service 'bring their own cloud' and therefore the data is not stored on storage provided by SME. Customers who took advantage of the data storage NAA provided can use the time before closure to add another cloud and copy the data across to their own storage. Any data that is still held on the service at the point of closure will be deleted.
Is this change covered by the terms of our agreement with you?
Yes. Please refer to your End-User License Agreement.
Can you move my data to another cloud for me?
No, we are not offering that service.
What do I need to do?
If you have data that is stored on the storage provided by NAA And that you wish to retain, you should download it or copy it to another storage cloud prior to the service termination date.
What about files I have encrypted using the service’s Personal and Organization encryption features?
If you wish to be able to read these files in the future, you most create decrypted copies of them prior to the termination of the service. This applies to files on all storage clouds, not just the storage provided by SME. After the service has been terminated, you will not be able to decrypt any files that have been encrypted using the service’s encryption feature.
Are there any costs to me associated with copying my data to another storage cloud?
That depends on the other storage cloud’s pricing. NAA will not charge you for copying the data.
What will happen to the personal information about me that you are holding?
It will be deleted after the service has been terminated.
What will happen to the records of who took what actions while we were using the service (audit logs)?
This information will be deleted after the service has been terminated.
When will my subscription charges end?
Subscription billing will be stopped shortly after you receive formal email notification of termination. You should receive a subscription termination email from Paypal.
When will Maintenance and Support charges end?
Maintenance and support billing as been stopped. You may ignore any invoices issued after the announcement of the end of service.
What will happen to the file and folder links that we have sent to our external contacts?
Those links will no longer work after the service has been terminated. Prior to the service termination you may want to use features of the service to identify recipients of those links.
What will happen to the tags, comments and descriptions that we added to our data?
These and other metadata elements related to your files and folders will all be removed after the service has been terminated.
What will happen to our PDF annotations?
Annotations that have not been “burned” onto documents will be deleted after the service has been terminated. Prior to the service termination you may wish to burn the annotations onto the documents to which they apply.
I am an organization administrator. What instructions should I give to my organization’s members?
This is up to you, but we suggest that you provide suitable guidance including, at a minimum, information about how to retain files that are stored on the storage provided by NAA And about decrypting files.
